Dear Family,
Things are always happening for a reason. Take a good friend of mine, for example. He wanted to have a notebook for a long time. Why? Well, because if you want to give the general Divine Principle conferences of the Movement or the International Education Foundation Power Point conferences, you need to have a lot of technical gidgets and gadgets. And this--means a lot of money. If you want to be mobile, invite people to your home, bring the conferences to their home, you need a notebook to connect all of these things together. There is the whole set-up in the Peace Embassy, but this can't be really taken on the road. So, this friend of mine told me, from one place or the other--somehow, someplace, somewhere--he's going to get a notebook. O.K. Great. Now what???
People don't understand these things. Many people's prayers are something like: "Oh God, I wish I had a couple of thousands of Dollars!" Most likely God will answer you: "O.K.--I'm all ears: what do you want the thousands of Dollars for?" And then, you better come up with a pretty good project and plan--well projected and neatly planned--and most likely God will answer: "Sounds good to me! Now let's see where we get the money from." I really believe it works like that. "To make a long story short", as Dr. Pak would have said, remember last month? We had The Event with True Mother and the True Daughters here in Buenos Aires, right? Right. At the end of The Event we had a lottery for all participants with the prizes of digital cameras, a notebook and one of theses giant new fancy TV sets (all graciously donated by our Japanese National Messiah, Dr. Furuta.) First prize, the TV set, went to a Christian Pastor. And guess who won the notebook? That's right, this friend of mine.. This week-end, he gave the notebook its first baptism on the road. He went to visit his grandmother in the idyllic province of Entre Rios in Argentina, and showed some photos of the Event, True Parents, his family and the Movement to some friends and relatives of his. "It sure made a great impression", says he. At one particular instance, he explained to one very interested relative--who remained alone at home on a Saturday night, because he felt "something was about to happen"--the IEF lecture "The Family as the School of Love" with the notebook. Of course, not everyone is as keen and interested as all of this, but it's a start. Our friends and relatives, our neighbours, fellow employees at work--they all are our tribe, our home church. Well, you have to start somewhere. You can either spend your life in wishful thinking and mournful complaining of: "God--why don't I have a million Dollars??" or you can start someplace, somewhere with what you've got--and the rest surely will follow. This being just a short update from the country of Argentina in our ongoing endeavours to contribute to a better world-- Signing off,Vanessa from the deep deep South
